This is a legit bad ass race car driven by the one and only randy pobst in the short lived NATCC. How did such a cool car spawn such horribly done body kits and ugliness?

The Fast and the Furious was more of a historical fiction documenting  the import scene from the ‘90s. That stuff had taken off well before ‘01.

I see your point, and it’s valid. I’ll only counter that “tuner” isn’t a racist epithet. But I think if we say “ tuner” , we can handle what exactly is being tuned by adding context, if necessary.
